A day at our bilingual school

A typical day

The school is open four days a week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays; children arrive from 8:30 am and leave no later than 5:00 pm.

On a typical day at the college, classes begin at 8:45 am, when students gather to start a morning of academic learning. This learning takes place in English for two mornings a week and in French for the other two mornings, thus offering a balanced linguistic alternation throughout the week. Teachers guide students through a variety of interactive and engaging learning activities to reinforce their understanding of the subjects taught.

After a short break to relax and refresh, students resume their activities until lunchtime around noon. Each child brings their own meal or can prepare it in the school kitchen, thus promoting autonomy and the ability to compose their own meal according to their tastes and needs, under the supervision of the educational team. Lunch break is followed by an extended recess in the school garden or under the shelter in case of rain, offering students the opportunity to socialize and relax after a morning of work.

The afternoon is largely devoted to artistic, musical, theatrical, and sports activities, as well as educational outings. Students have the opportunity to participate in activities that stimulate their creativity, develop their artistic skills, and encourage them to express themselves freely. In addition, regular outings are organized to the media library, located a few meters from the school, offering students the opportunity to explore a variety of educational resources.

Throughout the day, students are encouraged to read, with dedicated reading times during the week. Whether in class, at the media library, or during breaks, reading is valued as an enriching activity that nurtures the imagination and reinforces knowledge.

The school day ends at 5 pm, as students prepare to go home after a busy and enriching day at the college.

The school

Our school is located in the heart of the village of Saint-Paul sur Save, in a house dating back to the early 19th century. The premises offer a warm and authentic setting, with two rooms dedicated to classes, as well as a kitchen and a bathroom to meet the daily needs of students. The outdoor area covers an area of 1800 m2 and includes a covered area, allowing students to enjoy outdoor meals even in rainy weather while remaining sheltered. In addition to this large outdoor space, there are numerous opportunities for outdoor activities, with sports facilities accessible within the village, just a few minutes walk away.

The sutdents' daily responsibilities

In our school, we place great emphasis on fostering autonomy in our students. With this in mind, we entrust them with concrete responsibilities throughout the day to help them acquire practical skills and develop a sense of accountability. Therefore, students are tasked with duties such as tidying their workspace, cleaning tables and equipment after activities, setting up and clearing away meal areas, participating in dishwashing after meals, and assisting with classroom cleaning at the end of the day. By encouraging them to take on these daily responsibilities, we aim to promote their autonomy, sense of responsibility, and collaboration within the school community. These practical activities are integral to our educational approach, allowing students to develop essential life skills while contributing to the smooth operation and harmony of our school environment.
